'Attack on Titan' Final Season Trailer Breakdown: Eren, Mikasa and Armin's Journey Revisited
Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2, the final season for the hit anime series, will start airing weekly from Sunday, January 9.
And in the lead-up to the new episodes dropping online, Crunchyroll shared a final trailer to celebrate the occasion on Thursday.
Scenes from all four seasons of the anime play out to Chopin's "Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2" in the trailer, charting the journeys of Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert from young children to ruthless warriors.
Here is everything that stood out from the trailer.
Mikasa and Eren
Highlighting the characters' growth over the course of the past 75 episodes, the trailer opens with a teenage Eren and Mikasa using their omni-directional mobility gear to scale the walls and traverse the city with ease during fights against titans.
At the same time as the pair are seen in battle mode there are scenes of them as young children alongside Armin, before and after tragedy befell them during the fall of Wall Maria at the Shiganshina District.
Eren and Mikasa are also shown spending time together in clips harking back to their days as part of the Training Corps, prior to them joining the Survey Corps.
As these scenes play out, Mikasa is heard telling Eren: "As long as I have you I can do anything."
Mikasa was known as the best soldier from the 104th Training Corps, and this is evident when the trailer shows multiple scenes of her fighting from season 1 all the way to season 4, part 1.
Armin's Journey to Becoming a Colossus
It's then Armin's turn to be highlighted in the trailer, with the character shown from his youth to his days as a soldier in the Survey Corps alongside Eren and Mikasa.
Armin is also shown briefly in his Colossal Titan form, which he took possession of after killing Bertolt Hoover in Season 3.
The character is seen both as the Titan and during his younger years when he fought the original Colossus, which then was controlled by Hoover.
Reflecting on the war that has been raging for four seasons, he is then heard saying: "The battle is ours for the taking."
Eren as a Titan
Lead character Eren is left for last, and the trailer shows him in battle mode as he flies through the air and wields his weapons, ready to attack.
The character is seen transforming into the Attack Titan in a fight against the Armored Titan, and he's heard saying: "I can do this. No, we can do this."
In a scene from Season 4 part 1, Armin reaches his hand out to Eren, before the trailer switches to a scene from Season 1 of Eren doing the same to him when they were kids.
The trailer then focuses in on the friendship between the trio and, adding to his earlier remark, the protagonist says: "Because we've all been special since the day we were born, we can do this."
Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 will be simulcast on Crunchyroll, Funimation and Hulu from Sunday, January 9, at 3.45 ET/12.45 PT.
