What to Expect From 'Attack on Titan' Final Season Part 3

Attack on Titan fans believed the iconic series would reach its conclusion with the finale on Sunday, April 3, but Studio MAPPA has confirmed that won't be the case.

The series, based on Hajime Isayama's manga of the same name, will be given a third part to its final season, which will air in 2023.

MAPPA took to social media shortly after the finale aired in Japan to share a new poster and short trailer to tease what was to come, per Crunchyroll.

Here is everything you need to know.

**Warning: This article contains some spoilers for 'Attack on Titan' Season 4 Part 2**

What to Expect From 'Attack on Titan' Season 4 Part 3

Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 ended on a cliffhanger, with Eren Jaeger (named Yeager in the manga) arriving at Marley to exact his revenge on all his enemies.

Having initiated the Rumbling, Eren and the Colossal Titans he commands fight off the Global Alliance with ease and land on the Marleyan shore.

After reflecting on all the events that brought him to that moment, including his mother's death at the hand of a Titan, the episode ends with Eren declaring his intention to destroy the world.

Fans of the original manga will already know there are just nine chapters left to be adapted in the anime, so it is expected that Part 3 of the final season will bring these to life on the small screen.

MAPPA hasn't confirmed how many episodes Part 3 of the final season will have, but it's possible the studio will make nine episodes to represent each chapter left to adapt.

The titles to each episode of part 2 of the final season matched the chapter titles in the manga, and part 3 is expected to do the same.

Fans of the manga know the story will come to a rather shocking and grim conclusion, but plenty of anime fans are choosing to wait for the adaptation to finish to know how everything will pan out for Eren, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert and their friends.

Even the actors in the English voice cast are unaware of what is to come in the anime, so Newsweek won't reveal how the story will end here.

Will There Be an 'Attack on Titan' Movie?

Some anime fans have questioned whether MAPPA will choose to adapt only part of the manga in Part 3 of the final season, and save the last chapter, or chapters, for a movie.

Joking about how the last minute announcement of Part 3 will be the same next year with a film, one fan on Twitter wrote: "Next year: Attack on Titan - The final part, The movie - 2024."

Along the same lines, one Twitter user joked: "Attack on Titan: The Super Duper Mega Final Final Season Part 5.7 Redux Death By Sleep Totally For Real This Time: The Movie 3."

Another added: "Ah yes, can't wait to watch "The Final season of Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 7 of 7 : The Actual Final Movie (Finally lol)", with my children one day."

As yet, MAPPA has only confirmed Attack on Titan will have a third part to its final season, and the studio hasn't commented on there being a follow-up film.

Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 is available to watch on Crunchyroll now.
