After three months of waiting, Palmer was unveiled as the new host. NFL star Palmer is no stranger to the world of The Bachelor, having participated in the show in 2004. Taking to Instagram to address the news, Palmer posted a photo of himself in the garden of The Bachelor mansion.

He wrote: "Bachelor Nation- I couldn't be more thrilled to be home with my @bachelorabc family! Word on the street is it's pretty AMAZING around here!"

Fans took to the comment situation of Instagram to share their support for Palmer's new role.

One fan wrote: "I couldn't imagine watching any more Bachelor franchises without Chris Harrison until I heard this news. You're a perfect fit. Congrats and best wishes."

A second fan added: "I am so happy! I watch you on all the baking challenges, and now I can watch you on another one of my favorites the bachelor and the bachelorette so excited."

A third fan commented: "Great choice! Can't wait to watch!"

In an official ABC statement, Palmer said: "For more than 20 years, 'The Bachelor' has brought the world dozens of unforgettable love stories, including at one time, my own.

"Falling in love is one of life's greatest gifts, and I am humbled by the opportunity to return to the show as host this season to offer the newest Bachelor advice gained from firsthand experience and I am grateful to play a small part in his journey."

The Bachelor fans will have to wait a while to see Palmer take on the role of host as the new season is not slated to air until next year.

At the moment, the Bachelor taking part in Palmer's season has not yet been announced but there is a huge possibility he could be revealed in The Bachelor's sister show, The Bachelorette which begins on Monday, October 18.

Who Is Jesse Palmer?

Jesse Palmer is a Canadian television personality, sports commentator, actor, and former professional NFL player.

In 2004, he became the first athlete and first non-American star (Palmer is Canadian) and the youngest at age 25 to compete on The Bachelor.

At the end of his season, Palmer gave his final rose to 22-year-old student Jessica Bowlin. He did not propose to Bowlin during the final and instead, they continued to date outside of the show. Sadly, the pair did not last and called it quits on their relationship soon after the show aired.

Palmer played quarterback for the New York Giants and San Francisco 49rs between 2001 and 2005.

He also spent time with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.

Today, Palmer is well known for his presenting duties with ESPN, DailyMailTV, The Food Network's Holiday Baking Championship and ABC's The Proposal.

The Bachelor Season 26 is coming to ABC in 2022
