Police Hunt Suspect Who Shot Barbershop Employee Over Argument About His Son's Haircut

Police are searching for a man who allegedly shot a barbershop employee over an argument about a haircut given to his teenage son.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the barbershop on the 23900 block of Franz Road in Katy, outside Houston, Texas, on Sunday evening, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said on Twitter.

The male employee was apparently shot at around 5 p.m. by a customer who then fled the barbershop, according to the sheriff's office.

"Deputies are at a barber shop in the 23900 block of Franz Rd, where a male employee appears to have been shot by a customer, who then fled. The victim has been taken to the hospital. Condition unknown at this time," the sheriff's office said on Twitter.

"Witnesses say he shot an employee while arguing over a haircut given to the suspect's son," the sheriff's office added.

The barbershop employee was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, ABC13 reported. KPRC reported that the victim was shot three times, but is expected to survive. He is listed in a stable condition, according to the station.

Harris County Detective Wallace Wyatt told KPRC the dispute that prompted the shooting was over the haircut given to the suspect's 13-year-old son earlier in the day.

Wyatt said the suspect had gone home with his son then returned to the barbershop, where an employee "fixed" the haircut at no extra cost.

But at some point during the second visit, an altercation occurred between the suspect and the unnamed employee.

"He went home, came back. They fixed the haircut for free and then that's when the altercation occurred," Wyatt told KPRC.

"That is one of the worst ones I've heard, especially with your son being here, witnessing what you're doing."

The sheriff's office described the suspect as a "black male. Vehicle may be a gray 4-door sedan, possibly Honda Accord."

The Harris County Sheriff's Office has been contacted for additional comment.
