Best Children's Hospital in the U.S.—Boston Children's Tops List

Boston Children’s Hospital has been named the best pediatric institution in the U.S. for the fifth year running.

The hospital topped the U.S. News and World Report’s 12th annual Best Children’s Hospitals ranking. The list details institutions which are considered to offer the best care for complex and rare conditions that children can face.

Researchers for the organization assessed ten pediatric specialties to compile their list of the top 50 centers, including: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology.

Ten hospitals were featured on the magazine’s 2018 to 2019 Honor Roll. These are considered to “deliver exceptionally high-quality care across multiple specialties,” according to the organization.

Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston retained fourth place while Washington, D.C.’s Children's National Medical Center leaped from ninth to fifth place.

Children's Hospital of Colorado, meanwhile, found itself on the honor roll for the first time this year at ninth place, pushing Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC out of the top ten. Tenth place was awarded to Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, which dropped from seventh place last year.
