When Hal Vaughan learned his flight attendant daughter Pierce was working over Christmas, he knew there was only one thing for it: He'd buy seats on every flight she was working so he could still spend time with her.

The heartwarming story was made public after Hal shared his plans to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with his daughter with stranger and fellow passenger Mike Levy. Touched by Hal's thoughtful gesture, Levy shared the tale on Facebook.

In his Facebook post on Monday, Levy wrote: "I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas. Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a fantastic father!" wrote Levy, and wishing the pair a Merry Christmas.

Levy also shared a selfie he had snapped with Hal onboard his Delta Airlines flight at Detroit Metro Airport, as well as a photo of Pierce Vaughan in her cabin crew uniform.

Beneath the post, Pierce's mother Kimberly Vaughan told Levy that Hal "said hello" and that it was a pleasure meeting him. She revealed Hal's trip was made doubly special because he had broken his neck on June 8, 2018.

"He had surgery and couldn't walk or feed himself," she wrote. "He has worked so hard and is constantly working everyday to regain his strength. He's come a long way and has a long way to go. We are proud of him!"

"So terrifying," replied Levy. "I'm very glad to see he is doing better. Hope he doesn't mind all the publicity he has received."

Vaughan's selfless act and willingness to give up the comfort of a land-based Christmas for his daughter touched thousands of people. Levy's Facebook post has, at the time of writing, garnered over 141,000 likes, been shared by over 28,000 users and received 175 comments.

On Christmas Day, Pierce shared Levy's post on her own Facebook timeline. Her post indicated her father was able to use "benefits" to make the trip, but didn't provide any further details.

Pierce also gave a special mention to Levy. "Shoutout to Mike Levy for being a great first class passenger & helping us to understand how cool this [her father's trip] actually is!" she said. She thanked the "patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew" who helped to make her father's trip seamless. On one flight her dad was seated first class, which Pierce jokingly called a "Christmas miracle."

Users heaped praise on Hal beneath Levy's post for the great lengths he went to in order to keep his daughter company during the festive season. "Best Dad ever," wrote one Facebook user. "That's amazing!!!! What a great dad," said another. One user commented: "What an awesome father/daughter. Glad they could share the holiday."
