Cuffing season is officially upon us, and those looking for love this winter might also need to look for a new apartment if they're living in one of the statistically worst places to be single.
WalletHub ranked 182 American cities from 'best' to 'worst' for singles, based on economic, fun & recreation and dating opportunity factors, and found that the best city in the country to be single is Atlanta, Georgia, and the worst is Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Within the top five cities for single people are: Las Vegas, NV, Seattle, WA, Pittsburgh, PA, and Tampa, FL.

Within the other bottom five cities for single people are: Glendale, CA, Columbia, MD, Brownsville, TX, and Port St. Lucie, FL.
When discussing what cities need to be seen as good places for single people, Dr. Matthew J. Grawitch, Director, Strategic Research, School for Professional Studies at Saint Louis University said: "Every place comes with trade-offs, so the issue at play is what someone's top priorities are.
"I would certainly expect that locations that offer social and recreational options that appeal to the interests of people who are single would be near the top, but what singles want is also going to vary tremendously based on their interests and even desire for options that are "singles friendly."
Atlanta is the best city in the country to be single, per WalletHub's analysis because its number of bars and restaurants have given it a high ranking in terms of fun and recreation. There is also a large dating pool in the city, as 69 percent of city residents are single.

Vegas ranked highly too, as although it's thought of a place to get hitched quick, or to have an expensive bachelor party, it's actually one of the most affordable cities in the country for dating-related expenses, like getting a haircut or joining a gym. It also has one of the best gender balances in the country, making it easier for straight singles to find a match.
Pearl Harbor on the other hand, ranks the lowest out of all cities ranked in terms of fun and recreation, despite it being in beachy Hawaii, and also ranks close to the bottom in terms of affordability and dating opportunities.
Burlington Vermont is not in the top five best cities to be single in, but does have the second highest percentage of single people within the city, according to WalletHub.

Mercy Smith, a Burlington resident, spoke to Newsweek about what difference this makes to life in the city.
Smith said that for her "the single experience in Burlington is pretty f*cking awesome...I feel like I've been going on a million new dates..I feel like I've had more romantic suitors in the past few months than maybe ever in my life.
"It's not like I'm endlessly scrolling on dating apps...I think I only have met one person on a dating app...everyone else I'm meeting in real life, like the good old days, friends of friends, going to parties, running into people."
She said she believes a lot of dating enjoyment in Burlington is down to how accessible and walkable the city is, as she never feels like she cannot get to a good date, or escape a bad one. Additionally, the dating scene she is in is also very affordable and welcoming.
She added, however, that she is surprised that Burlington is listed as one of the most single cities in the US, as she knows many people in relationships.
That said, most of the people that she knows are polyamorous, which may be why so many people appear to be single, as they are on dating apps and are dating many people at once.
