Beyonce's Music Video for 'The Lion King' Lead Single 'Spirit' Is Here

Beyoncé is not only lending her voice to the CGI live-action remake of The Lion King that hits theaters July 18. She also executive produced an original companion album titled The Lion King: The Gift that will be released this Friday as well.

On the ABC special The Lion King: Can You Feel the Love Tonight hosted by Robin Roberts Tuesday evening, the music video for her new song "Spirit" premiered.

Fans took to social media to praise the new music video. One fan tweeted: "BEYONCE!!!!! This is the first music video that has ever moved me to tears. It was completely breath taking [sic]. The Melanin. The Art. The Spirit. Africa!! Omg!! Just beautiful."

Another added, "Beyoncé is getting better and better as an artist the older she gets. Her music video to Spirit is phenomenal."

"The soundtrack is a love letter to Africa and I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa and not just use some of the sounds and do my interpretation of it. I wanted to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa," Beyoncé said during her interview with Roberts.

"A lot of the drums, the chants, all of these incredible new sounds mixed with some of the producers from America, we've kind of created our own genre and I feel like the soundtrack becomes visual in your mind. It's a soundscape. It's more than just the music because each song tells the story of the film."

Beyoncé revealed the track list for the new Lion King-inspired album on Tuesday as well. Along with several Beyoncé songs, the LP features contributions from Kendrick Lamar, JAY-Z, Childish Gambino, 070 Shake, Tierra Whack, Pharrell and more. In addition, there's a song with Blue Ivy, Beyoncé and Jay-Z's daughter.

Aside from handling the new music, Beyoncé also lends her voice to Nala in the film. The character has a much more prominent role in the new CGI version than in the original animated version that debuted 25 years ago this summer.

The film enlisted many of Hollywood's finest talents to voice the beloved characters many love, including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Keegan-Michael Key, James Earl Jones, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner and Donald Glover.
