Bill O'Reilly Claims 'Karma Strikes' AOC Over Positive COVID Test

Conservative political pundit Bill O'Reilly has chided Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after she tested positive for COVID-19, describing her contracting the disease as "karma."

A statement from New York Congresswoman's office on Sunday night said Ocasio-Cortez had tested positive and was recovering from the virus at home. The statement said she was experiencing symptoms.

The statement said Ocasio-Cortez received her booster shot in the fall.

A video circulating on social media shows Ocasio-Cortez without a mask addressing a Miami bar and hugging actor Billy Porter at the party over new year.

In a post on his website on Monday, O'Reilly, a former FOX News host who now presents his own programme No Spin News, criticized the Democrat.

O'Reilly left Fox News in 2017 after several women accused him of sexual harassment.

"Karma strikes Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez who says she has contracted COVID after going maskless in Miami," O'Reilly wrote, as part of his Monday "Bill's Message of the day."

"Now, I don't wish the lady ill, pun intended, but she's sooooooo self-righteous about vaccinations and masks that, apparently, God has had enough," O'Reilly added.

"Alexandria may not believe in God, it seems she's the center of her own universe, but annoying the Deity is not a good hobby. We now know the Omicron can penetrate the vax, but the virus is less intense if you're vaccinated. That's what the data shows, anyway."

He said COVID-19 was no longer "a fact-based illness," saying it was "all politics and emotion."

"So, get well soon, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. And be sure to mask up so you don't spread the bug to other socialists. But if you see a Republican, sneeze all you want," O'Reilly said.

Newsweek has contacted Ocasio-Cortez's team for comment.

This is not the first time O'Reilly has criticized Ocasio-Cortez. In a column on his blog in August 2020, O'Reilly condemned the New York lawmaker for saying that New York City was giving e-commerce giant Amazon too many tax breaks.

He said she was "directly responsible" for Amazon choosing not to go ahead with a 2018 plan to build a new plant in Queens, after she criticized the company.

After being asked about Ocasio-Cortez's antics in Florida, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis taunted "lockdown" politicians on January 3, joking he would be a "wealthy man" if he got a dollar for every politician who fled COVID-19 restrictions.

"Congresspeople, mayors, governors—I mean, you name it," he said.

"There are probably about a half a dozen governors who had restrictions on their people and then were spotted at various points in Florida," DeSantis added.
