'Bill and Ted Face The Music' Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot

Bill and Ted Face The Music (or Bill and Ted 3) was one of the many movies whose release date has been delayed by the coronavirus, but it is finally coming to cinemas and video-on-demand services in August. Original cast members Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, and William Sadler are being reunited for a plot that sees the Wyld Stallyns having to write the song that saves the world. Two trailers have been released by the movie so far, which reveals a number of Easter eggs to the original movie as well as introducing some new faces.

When will Bill and Ted Face The Music be released?

On Friday, August 28, Bill and Ted 3 will come simultaneously to cinemas and video-on-demand services in the US. It had originally been scheduled for the following week, but the Disney+ release of Mulan was then scheduled for September 4, pushing the movie back.

The movie is expected to be available on all major VoD services, including Amazon, Google Play, Apple TV, and Fandango Now. On the latter, for example, the movie is currently available to pre-order for $19.99, while it is currently priced at $24.99 on Amazon.

In other countries, there will be a delay until the film is available to watch. Face the Music, for example, is getting a cinema-only release in the UK, and not until September 23. Australia, meanwhile, has a September 10 release date for the movie according to IMDB.

Who is in the cast of Bill and Ted Face The Music?

John Wick's Keanu Reeves and The Lost Boys' Alex Winter are returning as Ted and Bill respectively, the first time they have played the roles together since 1991's Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey—though Winter has voiced Bill in two episodes of Robot Chicken.

Reeves and Winter are not the only original cast members returning. William Sadler of Power is also returning as Death, which he last played in Bogus Journey.

These original cast members are being joined by a new generation of actors. This includes Ready Or Not's Samara Weaving and Atypical's Brigette Lundy-Paine, playing the daughters of Bill and Ted.

30 Rock's Kristen Schaal, meanwhile, plays a messenger from the future called Kelly, who is the daughter of the original movie's Rufus (played by George Carlin, who died in 2008). The character has been named Kelly in tribute to Carlin, whose daughter shares the character's name.

Also starring in the movie are musician Kid Cudi, Hollywood's Holland Taylor, and 22 Jump Street's Jillian Bell, as well as Anthony Carrigan, Erinn Hayes, and Jayma Mays.

What will happen in Bill and Ted Face The Music?

The official synopsis reads: "A visitor from the future tells best friends Bill and Ted that one of their songs can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe."

Director Dean Parisot said of the plot to Empire: "We've gone from a homework assignment to saving all space and time. We bypassed all those possible traumas in the middle. They have an hour and 18 minutes. So they're in trouble. And let's say that they have to travel all over the place to try and figure it out."

The trailer reveals that Bill and Ted 3 will feature exactly the kind of time travel trickery that made the original movie so fun, as the pair decide to steal the song from their future selves. The daughters, meanwhile, set out to assemble the ultimate band from throughout history, in a nod to 1989's Excellent Adventure.
