The biggest feature of Black Ops Cold war update 1.08 is everything included with Season 1, which encapsulates eight new maps, multiple modes and an entirely new Rebirth Island Warzoneexperience. While some fans might bemoan the idea that some of the maps are remakes, like Nuketown '84 and Raid, there's still tons of new content to enjoy. The Pines, for example, sounds like an interesting multiplayer experiment, and, while 2v2 Gunfight isn't exactly new, the fact that the mode returns with four new arenas is pretty exciting. And, for those hardcore players who still aren't impressed with everything listed here, there's finally a way to use the Prestige Keys you may have collected during the pre-season period last month.

On the buffs and nerfs side of the equation, the changes are equally important. Adjustments to the AUG and M16 seemed like a no-brainer given their unique place in the meta, but we're not quite sure how much sense it makes to nerf the M16 and Krig as well. The latter changes sound somewhat minor, but they were less expected tweaks regardless. We're also not a fan of that Stim nerf either, as cutting back on everyone's ability to get health can have huge ramifications for the meta. As for guns that got better, however, it would appear the Bullfrog is about to be a very popular choice for players once again, and other SMGs have been taken up a notch to better compete with the MP5. On the surface the new arrangement doesn't sound perfect, but it will probably work better than the previous one. Overall, Black Ops Cold War update 1.08 delivers the Season 1 flair players wanted, but it remains to be seen how balanced the game will actually be.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X}S, Xbox One and PC.
