Bloomington Nightclub Shooting: What We Know So Far

Police in Bloomington, Indiana, are investigating a shooting at a nightclub that took place early on Saturday morning, which reportedly left several people with gunshot wounds.

The shooting took place inside the Kalao Nightclub in the 300 block of North Walnut Street at about 1.10 a.m. E.T. Multiple rounds were fired inside the bar and police were searching the Indiana University campus for suspects.

Police also reportedly located individuals with gunshot wounds at two different locations and are investigating whether those injuries are a result of the same shooting, or separate incidents.

The number of victims and their condition is not known at this time.

Indiana University Emergency Management tweeted early Saturday morning that some suspects had been taken into custody.

"IUPD has suspects in custody; continues to pursue another. Shelter in place and call 911 with any info on earlier off campus shootings," the tweet said.

Bloomington Police issued a statement about the incident which was shared on Twitter by Zach Myers, a reporter with central Indiana's Fox59 news.

The statement said that upon arriving at the scene, "officers determined that multiple shots had been fired inside the bar and located three victims with gunshot wounds in the street outside the establishment."

Police reported that the victims had been shot in the lower level rear bar and had fled outside. They identified the victims as a 26-year-old man who had been shot in the pelvis, a 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his upper thigh, and a 22-year-old man who had been wounded in his thigh.

Officers provided the victims with emergency medical care at the scene until ambulances arrived. The three wounded men were taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment. Police said their conditions were not known at the time of issuing the statement early on Saturday morning.
