The Toronto Blue Jays are just one day away from kicking off the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Toronto will welcome the Dodgers to Rogers Centre on Friday night and one of the biggest questions for the Blue Jays is whether two-time All-Star Bo Bichette will be able to take the field with the team. Bichette hasn't played in a game since Sept. 6 against the New York Yankees as he has dealt with a left-knee injury.

When the Blue Jays punched their ticket to the World Series by knocking out the Seattle Mariners in the American League Championship Series, Bichette said he would "be ready" for the World Series, as shared by The Athletic's Dennis Lin.

Bichette clearly is doing everything he can to put himself in a position to return. In fact, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reported on Thursday that Bichette was seen taking grounders at second base, a position he has yet to play in the big leagues.

"Bo Bichette took ground balls at second base Wednesday afternoon, testing his left knee at a position he has never before played at the MLB level," Nicholson-Smith wrote.

Nicholson-Smith acknowledged this could be the Blue Jays just exploring options in the case of late-game emergencies

"Of course, it’s possible the Blue Jays are merely exploring their options and Bichette will be the one who needs DH at-bats," Nicholson-Smith said. "In the scenario that Bichette is primarily a pinch hitter or DH in the World Series, the second base option may be more of a late-game contingency than a plan-A. Bichette also ran the bases during his workout at Rogers Centre late Wednesday afternoon."

At the very least, Bichette is working towards a return and seems to be right on the doorstep. Toronto doesn't need to announce its World Series roster until Friday morning. Nothing is guaranteed for Bichette, but it sounds like things are trending in the right direction.
