'A Bop': New Viral Trend Brings Back Nostalgic 'High School Musical' Dance

The internet is bringing back the mid-2000s Disney Channel nostalgia with a catchy song from High School Musical 3.

In a viral trend started on Tiktok, user @matty_lorden uploaded the sound from the hit film. Users learn a part of the choreography from "A Night To Remember," which is featured in the final movie of the highly successful HSM trilogy.

There are currently over 6,000 videos using the sound that has gained popularity over the past few days. Most videos have over 100,000 likes and over 1 million views.

In January of 2006, viewers were introduced to the students of East High. Starring Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Monique Coleman, Corbin Bleu, and Lucas Grabeel. Their characters sang their way though the ups and downs of high school. All three films are filled with upbeat pop anthems and sad ballads still remembered to this day.

It all started when East High basketball icon Troy Bolton (Efron) fell for newcomer Gabriela (Hudgens) as he found himself auditioning for the school musical opposite her. This caused tension with queen bee, Sharpay Evans (Tisdale), and the boys on the team. The second movie followed the Wildcats through their summer vacation leading up to their senior year.

More than 7 million people tuned in to watch the original High School Musical. The sequel gained even more viewers with more than 17 million viewers on premiere night. The third and final movie was released into the movie theaters which dominated the box office earning $42 million opening weekend in October of 2008.

Among the many videos involved in the HSM TikTok trend, celebrities like Jojo Siwa have also added their own touch to the dance. Original High School Musical cast member, Kaycee Stroh even left a comment on the dancer's video, "Yas!!! Y'all crushed this."

Many Tiktok users commented about how the High School Musical movies and choreography will always be memorable.
