'Brady Bunch' Matriarch Florence Henderson Dead at 82

Florence Henderson, best known for playing matriarch Carol Brady in classic sitcom The Brady Bunch, has died aged 82.

The actor died of heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles late Thursday night, her manager told the Associated Press.

Henderson gained notoriety for playing the matriarch of the haphazardous Brady family in the ABC sitcom in the 1970s. Although it ended after five seasons in 1974, the show's popularity spawned numerous TV reunion movies, a variety special starring the cast and even a short-lived 1990 spin-off series.

In recent years, Henderson appeared as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars in 2010. She also hosted her own talk show, The Florence Henderson Show, on U.S. cable network Retirement Living TV.
