BTS Grammy 2020 Performance: Namjoon, Hobi and Kim Taehyung Trend Following 'Seoul Town Road' Performance With Lil Nas X

K-pop royalty BTS performed on the Grammy Awards stage for the first time on Sunday, becoming the first-ever Korean act to perform at the show.

Marking their Grammy Awards performance debut on the biggest night in the music industry, the group joined rapper/singer-songwriter Lil Nas X for the song "Seoul Town Road," a remix version of "Old Town Road" released by the rapper which features a rap solo by RM (also known as Kim Nam-joon), the leader of the band.

The long rendition of the "Old Town Road" song saw Lil Nas X in a glittery cowboy outfit walking across a revolving stage to join different artists for a portion of the song.

The musical trek began with Lil Nas X strumming away at a guitar on his own before joining BTS, who were singing and dancing in their seats and later on their feet. The rapper then joined DJ/songwriter Diplo and 13-year-old singer Mason Ramsey as well as singer-songwriter Billy Ray Cyrus, BTS briefly reappeared to join Cyrus. Rapper Nas took to the stage for the finale of the track.

BTS fans—collectively known as the Army—have been gushing over the band's historic performance, commenting on the expressions of affection between various members, including RM, J-Hope (also known by the nickname Hobi) and V (also known as Kim Tae-hyung), their red carpet looks and the band being starstruck by other celebrities at the awards.

Fans have been sharing their messages using the terms "Namjoon," "Hobi," and "Kim Taehyung," which have been trending on Twitter.

"Namjoon mentions Alicia Keys' song when she mentioned BTS and Kpop. Jimin says how thrilling it is to hear BTS mentioned. JIMIN MET USHER AND NAMJOON SAID TO GO TAKE A PICTURE. JIMIN SAYS NAMJOON ACTED THE SAME WAY WHEN HE MET NAS," wrote @modooborahae.

"Joon [BTS member] and hobi both saying joonie got supershy and hid behind hobi when they met Nas," wrote @shyguyrm.

The latest show was BTS' second appearance at the Grammy Awards. Last year, the group appeared as award presenters for the Best R&B album category, which was given to American singer-songwriter H.E.R.

Last week, BTS became the first-ever Korean act to have a platinum album in the U.S. with their album Love Yourself: Answer, which has sold more than a million copies.

Their new album—Map of the Soul: 7—is slated for release on February 21.
