'BTS World': Everything We Know About the Mobile Game Inspired By K-Pop Icons

A BTS-inspired mobile game is available for pre-registration Friday, according to a press release from developer Netmarble. This means fans of the K-pop group can sign up to play the game ahead of its official launch.

The game, called BTS World, will offer fans the ability to step inside the superstars' lives via their phone. The simulation game will take players on an "interactive journey" as they step into the role of the K-pop group's manager. A tweet, posted on the BTS World Twitter account Thursday read "We're looking for a manager who will help us debut!"

A YouTube video with a similar concept also spoke to the theme on Thursday. In it, BTS members talk about the importance of a manager. Some of their hopes for their future manager are someone with a large sense of responsibility and flexibility, according to the interviews.

BTS World claims fans will be able to interact one-on-one, digitally, with their favorite band members. It also boasts 10,000 new photos and more than 100 videos of the band that have never been seen before.

The game will launch through Netmarble, the mobile game company that developed Lineage II and Iron Throne: Kingdoms. "BTS World was developed with the players in mind from the very beginning," Chief Global Officer Seungwon Lee explained in the press release. "Not only do they get to experience something entirely different, but they're also getting access to a tremendous amount of new and exciting content we created with BTS specifically for the game."

BTS fans seem hopeful for the game's content, and the ability to interact digitally with their favorite group, though some fear the game will cost money or involve microtransactions, according to conversations on Twitter.

Some fans were vocally excited about the digital commitment of becoming the group's manager. A series of memes, implying even in game format, they'll take the job seriously, surfaced Friday. Other fans, however, weren't impressed with the concept, and questioned how it will be entertaining in the game.

No release date for BTS World has been announced.
