'Captain Marvel' Comic May Explain the 'Avengers: Infinity War' Ending

Marvel is preparing to arm cinematic audiences with information about what Captain Marvel was doing leading up to Avengers: Infinity War. While Captain Marvel did not physically appear in the film, Nick Fury paged her for help in the post-credits scene so impending action is likely.

Captain Marvel Prelude #1, from Will Corona Pilgrim and Andrea Di Vito, will directly address that scene. The story follows SHIELD agents Nick Fury and Maria Hill on the missions that lead up to Captain Marvel's appearance, presumably explaining what Hill and Fury were doing before Thanos dissolved them into thin air.

Spinning out of the mysterious events of Avengers: Infinity War, Nick Fury and Maria Hill set off on life-or-death missions that lead directly to the appearance of Captain Marvel," the solicitation reads.

It's unclear if this prelude will provide hints to how Nick Fury and Captain Marvel know each other in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That is the big question heading into the solo film, which will star Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson in their early careers as SHIELD agents during the 1990s.

Marvel often releases material to support big films, and Pilgrim writes most of it (he's the creative director of research and development at Marvel Studios). Do you think he'll provide the answers fans want heading into Avengers 4? Let us know in the comments.
