Cat Giving His Newborn Brother a 'Death Stare' Leaves Internet in Hysterics

A seemingly jealous cat has left the internet in stitches after a video of him planning "revenge" against his owners' newborn baby went viral on social media.

The video, shared on TikTok earlier this summer by the cat owner, under the username Breeziestardust, shows a woman holding her baby and her partner holding their cat the same way, as it stares at the baby with what one person calls "revenge in his eyes."

The viral clip, which has been seen over 9.3 million times and liked 2.1 million times, comes with a caption that says: "We mustn't neglect the first baby."

According to The Spruce Pets, cats can get jealous of newborn babies because the arrival of the new family addition means they are no longer the center of attention.

Signs of a cat getting jealous include hissing, growling and swatting at the object (in this case the newborn baby) that the cat is jealous of. A jealous cat can be more aggressive and start scratching or biting, and in some cases, it may begin urinating outside of the litter box to make a point.

In order to stop this behavior, one should spend more time with the cat and make sure to give it enough attention, like playing together with interactive toys or cuddling on the sofa as well as making sure he has his own personal space to detach from it all.

According to a cats' protection charity, Cats.org, new parents should encourage any visitors coming to greet their newborn baby to pay attention to the cat too.

"Don't make Puss feel rejected, the baby is part of his life too and if he is made to feel part of the baby-raising activities he will be more accepting of the noisy intruder."

Most users who commented on the video found it hilarious. One user, Elizabeth commented: "baby and cat stare off." And CMD97 joked: "but why does the cat lowkey look like planning [to] murder in your sleep."

Zulema said: "This is giving me Step Brothers vibes." And N-boogie added: "The cat is silently challenging the baby to a burp off."

Another user, emmagiu wrote: "That cat is like 'yeah that's right, stay in your lane'." And Lay1981 said: "Cat is plotting the baby's demise."

The Bump commented: "She has REVENGE IN THOSE EYES" And Megan.Muse added: "Not the death stare." cricket said: "the cats like I used to be the baby..." Another user, mommyofkids4, said: "lol the cat stare ... how dare u take my mom."

Some users took this as far as making their own mental movie. SaifulHBrunswijk joked: "Baby and Cat ready to duel *western music intensifies*."

Newsweek reached out to Breeziestardust for comment. We could not verify the details of the case.
