They're usually considered nature's sworn enemies, and a viral TikTok video showing the moment when three Siberian cats laid eyes on their new puppy sibling for the first time seems to firmly back up that theory.
In the video, posted by TikTok user @turbo_piuma_pila, the cats were seen surrounding the tiny puppy, who was being cradled safely in her owner's arms. It was a monumental occasion for the three cats, named Turbo, Piuma, and Pila, because they were "seeing a dog for the first time," but they probably also hoped it would be the last time.
After the initial curiosity wore off, footage shows the cats keeping a safe distance away from the excitable pup, named Patty, and they looked so perplexed as to why she kept running around so much.

When thinking of animal friendships, cats and dogs don't instantly spring to mind, but it is certainly possible for them to get along. It may be difficult to introduce a cat to a new dog, or vice versa, at first, but the Animal Humane Society explains that it's vital to take the process very slowly to have the best chance of success.
Both animals should have space away from the other, which should include their water, food and toys, so they feel content. They should be kept apart for the first three to four days ideally, allowing them to get used to the other's presence without taking it too far. Once they're ready, owners can start feeding them on separate sides of a door, which teaches them positive associations while in the vicinity of their new companion.
Eventually, once both parties are calm in the presence of the other, they can meet face-to-face. The Animal Humane Society recommends keeping the meeting short, having the dog on a leash, and rewarding both pets for calm behavior. This can then be repeated over time and gradually increased in length, keeping them supervised throughout.
How Did Social Media React?
After the video of the cats meeting their new canine compatriot went viral, many TikTok users asked @turbo_piuma_pila to share more footage of the soon-to-be besties.
As time goes on, hopefully the cats will learn to love Patty, but for now, they simply look perplexed by her. While their owners may have wanted a warmer reception for the tiny puppy, social media users can't get enough of how judgmental and horrified the cats looked.
In just a day, the viral video has received over 1,100 comments from bemused TikTokers, and one person responded: "My favorite is them surrounding him smelling his little legs."
Another comment reads: "They are like, something is different about this one, just cannot put my finger on it."
While another person joked: "My 3 daughters when we brought home their first brother."
Newsweek reached out to @turbo_piuma_pila via TikTok and Instagram for comment. We couldn't verify the details of the case.
