Stray Cat Colony Enjoys Home-Cooked Thanksgiving Dinner in Wholesome Video

The moment a colony of stray cats received a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal has been melting hearts online.

Courtney—a resident of Tuscon, Arizona, known online as @poetssquarecats—shared the footage of Thanksgiving Day with the "semi-feral" cats she looks after. Her video was originally posted to TikTok, where it gained just over 100 likes, but went viral on Reddit, where it has received more than 43,000 votes.

She dished up organic hen for the cats in fancy plates, along with cat-friendly vegetables, before serving it to them outside.

"Kitties are eating a cat-safe meal of Cornish game hen (no skin, no bones, fully cooked white meat with no seasoning or butter), mashed potatoes (just potato, no butter milk, garlic, etc), pumpkin puree (just pumpkin, no pie spices or sugar), plain green beans, the tiniest bit of cranberry purée, a sprinkle of Temptations cat treats, and Friskies turkey-flavored cat gravy," she explained in a comment.

Courtney has cared for the stray cats for around a year, after discovering them when she moved into a new house. She serves them two meals per day and makes sure their vet needs are met.

"They get care and have warm shelters. Lots of cat treats and toys. I assure you the cats are well cared for in addition to getting a cute Thanksgiving treat," she wrote.

"We've adopted a lot of them out, and the ones left are healthy, fixed and super spoiled."

Courtney reassured Reddit users that the cats are spayed and neutered, to try to prevent any more strays being born. "It was so overwhelming when I started," she wrote.

"Lots of them were pregnant and two gave birth in my driveway while I was trying to trap the rest to be spayed and neutered. Every time I thought I got them all, a new tomcat would show up.

"We're very fortunate to have amazing resources in my area, including a clinic that does free spay and neuter for community cats. Initially, I was paying for the traps, food and other supplies myself, but we built up a small following on Instagram and that community has been AMAZING about keeping us funded with donations."

She added: "I'm also a TNR [trap, neuter, release] advocate and spend all my free time rescuing strays," she added.

Thanksgiving isn't the only holiday celebrated by the stray cats. As shown on the @poetssquarecats social media accounts, they were given cat treats in tiny pumpkin bowls for Halloween.
