'Celebrating Betty White: America's Golden Girl': How to Watch the Celeb-Filled Tribute

Betty White's life and career will be remembered in the special celebrity-filled tribute Celebrating Betty White: America's Golden Girl.

The legendary actress and entertainer died at the age of 99 on December 31, just weeks before her 100th birthday. White left quite a legacy behind, with decades of accomplishments across radio, television and film. Many of her highlights will be shared during Celebrating Betty White: America's Golden Girl.

Here's everything you need to know about how to watch the special event, and a list of all of the celebrities confirmed to be appearing.

When Is Celebrating Betty White: America's Golden Girl on?

The one-off, hour-long show focusing on the life of Betty White will air on Monday, January 31, 2022, on NBC at 10 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. CT.

If you don't catch the show as it plays out on TV, you can watch it the following day on NBC's streaming service Peacock.

The latest special dedicated to White's life comes weeks after her 100th birthday on January 17, 2022. On that date, Betty White: 100 Years Young—a Birthday Celebration aired in movie theaters as a celebration for her centenary. The movie featured more celebrity tributes and an interview with White herself, the majority of which were filmed before the news of her death.

Celebrities Appearing in Celebrating Betty White: America's Golden Girl

One of the biggest names attached to the NBC special is Cher, who is contributing with a rendition of "Thank You For Being a Friend" — the theme tune to White's iconic sitcom Golden Girls.

Many of White's famous friends, colleagues and fans will appear in Celebrating Betty White: America's Golden Girl to pay tribute.

President Joe Biden is one of those scheduled to appear. The president even tweeted about White after her death on December 31.

Also included in the special program are Goldie Hawn, Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres, Anthony Mackie, Tina Fey, Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Joel McHale, Jimmy Fallon, Bryan Cranston, Mary Steenburgen, Valerie Bertinelli, Ana Gasteyer, Wendie Malick, Vicki Lawrence and others.

NBC promises that Celebrating Betty White: America's Golden Girl will "include clips that best capture White's irreverent tone, spirit and impeccable comedic timing that are a hallmark of her decades-long career."

The show is a Brad Lachman Production, and is executive produced by Brad Lachman and Bill Bracken.

White died in her sleep on New Year's Eve in 2021 at her home in Los Angeles, after suffering from a stroke on Christmas Day. According to the Associated Press, Betty White was cremated and her remains were given to the person in charge of her advanced health care directive, Glenn Kaplan.

Celebrating Betty White: America's Golden Girl airs on NBC on Monday, 31 January on NBC. It will be available to watch the next day on Peacock.
