Hart was with two other people in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when the crash happened in Malibu, California. The car was being driven by a man named Jared Black when it veered off the road and plummeted down an embankment, reported CBS Los Angeles on Sunday.
Black "immediately lost control" when he drove onto a highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Hart's car plummeted ten feet deep off the road on the Los Angeles coast. The vehicle smashed into a wooden fence, crushing the roof, according to TMZ.
After the crash, Hart was able to get out of the car and go to his nearby residence to seek medical attention, the police report stated.
Firefighters reportedly had to cut open the roof to rescue Black, who was trapped in the front of the car. Hart and Black were sent to separate hospitals but both had sustained serious injuries.
The third passenger in the Barracuda was Rebecca Broxterman, who, according to her Instagram page, is Hart's wife's personal trainer. She is also reportedly Black's fiancee and did not have any serious injuries.
Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
