Juventus vs. Lokomotiv Moscow: Where to Watch UEFA Champions League, TV Channel, Live Stream, Team News and Odds
Juventus looks to extend its winning streak in all competition when it hosts Lokomotiv Moscow in Matchday 3 of the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Serie A giants have picked up four points from their first two games and share the lead in Group D alongside Atletico Madrid, with Lokomotiv a point behind the duo.
The Bianconeri are yet to taste defeat in a competitive match this season and remained top of Serie A with a 2-1 win over Bologna on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Miralem Pjanic.
In his first season in charge of Juventus, Maurizio Sarri can be happy with the start his team has made but the former Chelsea manager knows winning the Champions League is the club's main aim this year.
Juventus has won the last eight Serie A titles but last tasted European success in 1996, despite reaching the knockout stages in 16 of the last 19 editions of the Champions League it has taken part in.
Massimiliano Allegri, Sarri's predecessor, was repeatedly criticized for failing to translate domestic domination into success in Europe, despite reaching the final in 2015 and 2017—losing to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.
Ronaldo's arrival in the summer of 2018 was supposed to help Juventus make the final leap but the Bianconeri came unstuck against Ajax's youthful exuberance in the quarterfinals last season, losing 3-2 on aggregate.
After undergoing a major summer overhaul which saw Juventus sign Ajax prodigy Matthijs de Lift for $84 million and the arrivals of Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey on free transfers from Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, the Old Lady is again among the favorites to lift European soccer's most prestigious trophy.
Juventus gave up a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 in Madrid in the opening game of Group D, before thrashing Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 at home on Matchday 2.
The Serie A leaders are the clear favorites against Lokomotiv, but the Russian outfit can cause problems to more established opponents as it showed with a 2-1 away in Leverkusen on Matchday 1.
So far, it's been a sharp improvement from last season, when Lokomotiv finished bottom of a group containing Porto, Galatasaray and Schalke 04, losing five of its six games.
Like Juventus, Lokomotiv also tops its domestic league and is on a four-game winning streak in the Russian league, meaning it will not be short of optimism as it arrives in Turin.
That, however, may not be enough to stop Juventus from extending its winning run.
