Who Did Channing Tatum Date Before Marrying Jenna Dewan?

After nine years of marriage, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan are going their separate ways. The former couple released a joint statement Monday, explaining there was no malice behind their decision to break up.

"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths now," the statement read. "There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision—just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives possible."

Sparks first flew between Tatum and Dewan, both 37, while they were filming their 2006 film Step Up. They married in 2009 and later had a daughter, Everly, who will be 5 years old in May.

Before tying the knot with Dewan, Tatum kept a relatively low profile when it came to his romantic life. There were rumors he dated Amanda Bynes after they filmed the 2006 movie She's the Man. Despite photos of the actors smooching—which were likely snapped by paparazzi while they were filming—neither stars confirmed the relationship.

Back in 2013, the Magic Mike actor told OK! magazine that he was never the causal-fling type; he was always more interested in long-term, serious relationships. "I was never that kind of guy. I believe in true romance," he said.

"One-night stands are always going to leave you feeling cold and empty. I was always looking for the real thing, romance and all that. I love being married," Tatum continued. "I never liked the idea of going to bars and chasing girls. Some guys might enjoy that, but I always wanted to find that special woman, which I did when I met Jenna."
