Chris Brown Arrest Update: Singer Plans to Sue Rape Accuser For Defamation Following Release From Paris Jail

Chris Brown was released from a Paris jail on Tuesday. Brown was suspected of rape and drug infractions after a woman filed a complaint against the singer more than a week ago. He was arrested by French officials on Monday.

The singer was taken into custody, along with his bodyguard and a member of his entourage, both of whom were also cited in the police report.

Brown staunchly denied the accusations and upon his release, the 29-year-old's Parisian lawyer, Raphael Chiche, said Brown plans to file a defamation lawsuit against the woman.

"Chris Brown is free. No lawsuits were filed against him. He vigorously challenges the charges against him. A complaint for slanderous denunciation will be filed tomorrow with the public prosecutor for Paris," Chiche said in a statement to TMZ on Tuesday.

Although Brown was released, an investigation is still underway. Brown was also allowed to leave the jail without any conditions and will reportedly be able to return to the United States freely.

A 24-year-old woman filed a complaint claiming Brown forced himself on her on the night of January 15. The woman allegedly met Brown at Paris night club, Le Crystal Club. She returned to his suite at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and claimed the "Undecided" singer violently raped her once they were alone. She also alleged Brown's bodyguard and one of his friends abused her after the rape occurred.

The complaint is just the latest in Brown's long list of legal troubles. While his most infamous charge came following his assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, to which he pleaded guilty, he's been arrested and charged with assault among other crimes multiple times over the years. However, he was only convicted once—in relation to his 2009 assault when he violated his probation and was sent to prison in 2014. He was sentenced to a year but was released early in 2014.

Most recently, he was criminally charged for housing a capuchin monkey at his California property without the proper permit.

It's unclear why Brown was in Paris, though he was spotted attending shows at Paris Fashion Week the day after the alleged rape took place.

Following his release from jail, Brown shared a video of himself at dance rehearsals at a studio in Paris. "We working," he captioned the video.
