'Clash of Clans' Scattershot Revealed in TH13 December Update Sneak Peek

Clash of Clans Town Hall 13 Sneak Peeks continue, and the latest development includes a new defense called the Scattershot. The item was revealed in a teaser Wednesday morning and subsequently detailed by prolific YouTubers like Galadon Gaming. Here's a quick recap of everything we know.

The official description for the Scattershot reads as follows:

"The Scattershot heaves very heavy bundles of poorly tied together rocks at whoever happens to be the closest. The bundles break apart on impact and cause additional damage to the troops behind."

'Clash of Clans' Town Hall 13 update brings the Scattershot to the game this December. It offers huge splash damage against spam. 'Clash of Clans' is available now on Android and iOS. Supercell

The base stats of the new defense look like this:

  • Damage: 150 (180)
  • HP: 3,000 (3,500)
  • Range: Three-10 tiles
  • Damage type: Area Splash
  • Targets: Ground & Air
  • Favorite Target: Any

With regard to strategy, the most important detail to remember about the Scattershot is listed in the second sentence of its description. The huge rocks it hurls offer splash damage, which makes it extremely effective against large numbers of low-level droops. In other words, those who want to spam using the Siege Barracks revealed in Tuesday's Sneak Peek may have a difficult time doing so if one of these is in the area. Town Hall 13 may already have the Giga Inferno as its signature defense, but the Scattershot serves as yet another weapon to combat a well-amassed swarm.

Despite its effectiveness at crowd control, however, the Scattershot does appear to have a few weaknesses that balance it out. For one, many of its base stats, like its HP, aren't unheard of compared to what currently exists in Clash of Clans. In other words, a ranged troop like a Dragon or melee from the Barbarian King can make fairly short work of it. To complicate matters further, the Scattershot also has a deadzone where it can't fire anything once melee troops get up close. If a siege is timed correctly, the few stragglers that manage to avoid a bundle blast could very well end up doing substantial damage to a Scattershot. The Scattershot is powerful, but certainly not overpowered.

The reveal of the Scattershot encapsulates Supercell's third sneak peek for Clash of Clans' upcoming Town Hall 13 update. The December patch not only includes the new Town Hall but also the Siege Barracks Siege Machine. As the Town Hall 13 release date approaches, we expect we'll hear more about offensive options that might include a new Hero. We'll do our best to offer those details as they arrive.

Clash of Clans is available now on Android and iOS.
