The long-awaited line-up for Coachella 2022 has finally been revealed. After months of speculation, Coachella has confirmed Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and Ye (formally Kanye West) as the three big acts taking to the main stage to headline the Californian festival.
Across two weekends (April 15 – 17 and April 22 – 24, 2022) the headliners will be joined by a variety of acts from the worlds of pop, rock, dance, house, indie music, and more. Coachella 2022 will also mark the return of Swedish House Mafia to the desert in 10 years. Newsweek has the full list of acts below.
Coachella 2022 Line-up
Friday, April 15 & 22
Harry Styles
Harry Styles will be headlining Friday 15th and Friday 22nd of April at Coachella, the first time the British star has performed at the festival.
Styles shot to stardom as part of boyband One Direction and his career soared after the band went on hiatus in 2015, releasing his self-titled debut solo album in 2017 and his second album Fine Line in 2019.
His Coachella performances come just a few months after he completed the North American leg of his Love On Tour, his postponed 2020 worldwide tour.
Before he takes to the Coachella stage, audiences will be treated to performances from Phoebe Bridgers, Big Sean, Carly Rae Jepsen, slowthai, MIKA, Princess Nokia, Purple Disco Machine, and Logic100.
Saturday, April 16 & 23
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish makes history as Coachella's youngest-ever headliner at just 20-years-old. The Grammy-winning singer will be performing on Saturday, April 16th, and Saturday, April 23rd, 2022.
Eilish last performed at the festival in 2019 in a set that went viral. Snippets of the set are also featured in her 2021 Apple TV+ documentary, The World's a Little Blurry.
Announcing the news on her Instagram, Eilish reported an image of the Coachella 2022 line-up with the caption: "HEADLINING COACHELLA!!!! 2022!!" alongside two big smiley-face emoji's.
Also performing on the same weekends as Billie Eilish are: Flume, Disclosure, Megan Thee Stallion, BROCKHAMPTON, girl in red, Koffee, Hot Chip, Steve Lacy, Arlo Parks, Floating Points, and Holly Humberstone.
Sunday, April 17 & 24
Ye
As Kanye West, Ye headlined Coachella back in 2011 and has made several appearances on the main stage with other artists, including The Weekend in 2015 and Kid Cudi in 2019.
However, 2022 marks the first time Ye has performed at Coachella and he has the honor of closing the festival.
Also Performing on Sunday at Coachella are Doja Cat, Joji, Jamie XX, Maggie Rogers, Fatboy Slim, Dave, Honey Dijon, Orville Peck, Sampa the Great, and Duke Dumont.
Swedish House Mafia
At the moment it is unclear whether Swedish House Mafia where or when the house-music trio will be taking to the Coachella stage. So far, festival organizers have only teased they will be "returning to the desert".
Music fans will be ecstatic the festival is going ahead this year after the festival was postponed in April 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and again in October 2020, April 2021, and October 2021.
Originally Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, and Rage Against the Machine were billed as the headliners in 2020 but things are looking a whole lot different this year.
Ocean has already postponed his headlining slot to 2023 and Scott was removed from the line-up after the tragedy at his Astroworld concert in 2021 where 10 people died.
As For Rage Against the Machine, why they are missing from the 2022 line-up is unknown. Newsweek has contacted Coachella for comment. Despite a few changes to the line-up, Coachella 2022 is sure to be a great weekend for music with an incredible line-up taking to the stage..
