In 2016, somedian Dave Chappelle asked America to give President Trump "a chance." On Friday he joined CNN's Van Jones to discuss the comment.
During the 45-year-old comedian's monologue on SNL shortly after Trump's election, he reflected on an event where he was invited to the White House.
"I looked around that room and saw all those black faces ... and I saw how happy everyone was; these people who have been historically disenfranchised, and it made me proud to be an American."

"So, in that spirit, I'm wishing Donald Trump luck. And I'm going to give him a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too," he added.
Nearly two years later, Chappelle has changed his view. "I think the rhetoric of his presidency is repugnant," Chappelle said. "We are living in a time where there's got to be a little more cultural sensitivity, and even a guy like me who is just writing jokes, I've had to listen more than I've ever had to listen."
The stand-up comedian also criticized the president for not representing the diverse culture that is within the country.
"As a president of a country as eclectic as ours, I just think he is speaking to a very small choir."
After Ben Jealous, civil rights leader and Maryland governor nominee, mentioned that he had apologized for his comments in 2016, Chappelle was quick to clarify.
"I don't apologize, what I said is that 'I shouldn't have said that sh*t."
The interview is set to premiere Saturday at 7 p.m. EST.
