Connecticut Woman Attacks Pregnant McDonald's Worker Over 'Messed up' Order, Tries to Make Her Own McChicken Sandwich

A Connecticut woman is accused of attacking a pregnant McDonald's worker and yelling that she hopes she loses her baby after becoming irate at staff for getting her order of McChicken wrong.

Shannelle Hanson, 21, of Norwich, allegedly assaulted the fast food worker after going behind the counter to start making her own meal when the McDonald's staff members failed to get her order right on two occasions on the evening of May 31.

According to a police report obtained by The Smoking Gun, Hanson said that after requesting staff to make sure the chicken was fresh, drive-through staff told her that the first order had been messed up. Hanson said she was requested to park and wait for a new order to be prepared.

Hanson claimed that when she was brought her food 10 minutes later, the sandwich had no chicken patty inside. Hanson went inside and claims she was told staff "messed up" her order again. She obtained a refund.

According to a victim statement in the police report, Hanson then asked the pregnant worker, "Aren't you going to make my food?" The worker said she wouldn't because she had already been given a refund.

The victim states that Hanson then started yelling before going behind the counter in an attempt to make her own food. She then allegedly slapped the woman, who was 29 weeks pregnant at the time. During the confrontation she also allegedly punched the pregnant worker as people intervened to separate them. Hanson is also accused of slapping a male worker while he tried to break the pair up.

According to the victim statements, members of staff told Hanson that the woman was pregnant before she went behind the counter. The alleged victim told police Hanson's response was that she had bail money and didn't care she was pregnant and she "hoped I lost my child."

The pregnant woman was left with several broken nails and a bleeding finger which she said she suffered while trying to defend herself from Hanson.

Hanson told police: "She was laughing at me the whole time and I asked what was funny. I then threw the money in her face. I stepped behind the counter, at first to make my own sandwich. The manager stepped to me and we were face to face behind the counter. She said 'what are you going to do?' and I do not know who threw the first punch."

Hanson was later arrested and charged with breach of peace and third-degree assault of a pregnant woman. She is due to be arraigned in Norwich Superior Court on June 13.
