Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather in London: Watch Wembley Press Conference Live Stream Here
In the space of less than a week, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have thrown almost everything at each other except their fists. That will have to wait for August 26, when the face of the UFC and the unbeaten boxing champion collide in Las Vegas for a fight that is going to make a preposterous amount of money.
So far, it's been a battle of pro-wrestling-style heels. In Los Angeles and Toronto, UFC lightweight champion McGregor told Mayweather, "Dance for me, boy," a comment that Mayweather brushed off. In Brooklyn, New York, the Dubliner attempted an explanation and stumbled once again. "All of the media seem to be saying I'm against black people... Do they not know I'm half black? I'm half black from the belly button down," McGregor said. On Wednesday he responded to a question on the Jimmy Kimmel show by referring to Rocky III as "the one [film] with the dancing monkeys."
Meanwhile, Mayweather, the world champion and defensive genius who has a history of domestic violence, hasn't made some controversial comments of his own. He's repeatedly calling McGregor a "b****." In Brooklyn, Mayweather showered McGregor in dollar bills.
On Friday, the roadshow rolls into London for a press conference at the SSE Arena in Wembley. Mostly known as the sarcophagus for the dashed hopes of English soccer, this area of north-west London now gets to host two of professional sport's loudest, most controversial personalities.
It's hard to imagine their next encounter becoming more like a pro wrestling match than their previous ones. But McGregor and Mayweather will almost certainly find a way. You can watch the official Showtime Sports live stream from 2 p.m. E.S.T. below.
