Cristiano Ronaldo Scores 500th Goal

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 500th career goal and drew level with Real Madrid legend Raúl's 323 club goals during last night's Champions League meeting with Swedish side Malmo FF.

With each goal that Ronaldo put past the Malmo keeper a different milestone was reached. The Real Madrid forward's first took his career goal tally to the 500th mark, while his second became his 326th for his club, equivalent only to Madrid legend Raúl González Blancoaul.

In 2009 Ronaldo moved to Spanish side Real Madrid from Manchester United for £80 million ($120 million), a record transfer fee at the time.

24 players have already reached the 500 goal mark including Germany's Gerd Muller with 735, Ferenc Puskas from Hungary with 746 and Brazilians legend Pele with 767 and Romario with 772.
