'Cyberpunk 2077' E3 Trailer Includes Secret Message From CD Projekt Red

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has embedded a lengthy message and FAQ in their trailer for the long-anticipated project. The message can only be seen if you go all CSI on a few frames, enhancing the image and fiddling with the colors a bit. But what does the message tell us about Cyberpunk 2077?

First, CD Projekt Red apologized for the amount of time between the CGI trailer and announcement for Cyberpunk 2077 and this lengthier trailer. "We wanted to give you the Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that," said the devs.

Afterwards the devs explained that once work on The Witcher 3 expansion Blood and Wine was completed, they moved ahead with pre-production on Cyberpunk 2077. "We made the decisions to resume talking about the game when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial," they wrote. (Was that shade? It might have been a little shady.)

As for their trailer, CD Projekt Red went into a little more detail about their vision for Cyberpunk 2077, "an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilized life, and gangs rule the rest." They emphasized that "Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG" and noted, "You'll be able to create your own character" before encouraging players to "be on the lookout for the previews" for more information.

Finally, CD Projekt Red wrote a little FAQ of sorts where they addressed four simple questions. In short: no release date yet, the game is "seriously big," the DLC will be "nothing less than you got withThe Witcher 3" and "will be 100% DRM-free on PC," and there will be no microtransactions ("in a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?").
