'Cyberpunk 2077' Third-Person Mod Lets You See V—How to Download and Install

Cyberpunk 2077 is an unabashedly first-person experience, letting players live directly in the eyes of a male or female V in an effort to increase one's immersion with Night City and its surroundings. That being said, not everyone prefers taking in the sights from that perspective, especially when the game places so much emphasis on customizing your character with cool and wacky outfits. After all, beyond buffing your stats, what's the point of establishing a defined look for your V if you can't see it in action?

'Cyberpunk 2077' has a third-person mod that lets you see your character. Now Johnny isn't the only pretty face to look at. 'Cyberpunk 2077' is available now on PC, Xbox One and PS4. CD Projekt RED

That dilemma is mostly solved by a PC mod recently uploaded by Jelle "MaximiliumM" Bakker to the popular modding destination Nexus Mods. Dubbed "JB - TPP MOD WIP third person," the mod does precisely as advertised—it lets players enjoy the campaign from behind V's shoulders. Simply tap "B" on your keyboard, and you're able to switch through a few different camera perspectives to suit your needs. If the situation calls for it, you can even cycle back into the default first-person view if you so desire.

While the implementation of the tpp mod is mostly seamless, the visual results are not. In many ways, it really puts the "wip" in work in progress. While it's possible to get a basic third-person feel after installing the mod, many of the game's finer aesthetics will appear broken, messy or unfinished. As evident from this video footage captured by IGN, some accessories on your outfit may not show up at all, rendering your character model as a partial recreation of what it should otherwise be. Worse yet is that your character's walk animation will look quite odd, which may break immersion for the most hardcore Night City enthusiasts.

Like all mods, however, this one will likely undergo several rounds of iterations and updates before it's finally perfected. Despite going live Saturday afternoon, the mod already received a significant update just 24 hours later. Given the traction that tpp mod has gained since, we assume this is only the beginning. Even if Bakker were to pause or cease development altogether, someone else in the community would likely fill in.
