A dachshund, who is used to punctuate his daily walks with kids making a fuss about him, appeared heartbroken when he found out that the day care is closed on weekends.
A video of a dog called Alfie has racked up over 473,000 views on TikTok. It shows the moment he excitedly waits by the front door for the kids to come out.
His owner Edsel Ramirez, 45, added the following text that explains: "It's in his routine to meet the kids every morning. But it's the weekend and the daycare is closed."

He told Newsweek that they stop off daily at the day care and a local primary school to desensitize 2-year-old Alfie around children.

"He gets very excited still when he sees children—even with the window between them," she added. "Kids are always welcoming every time they see him.
"He looked confused when it was closed on the weekend," Ramirez told Newsweek.
It's easy to see why the canine thought his friends were there as the lights were on. He can be seen wagging his tail while looking through the door.
So far, the clip shared by @edsel.ramirez has amassed 30,800 likes and Alfie's impressive memory of the route he takes has also been acknowledged.
In the comments, Ramirez stated: "Dogs are remarkably intelligent and thrive on routine."
Dr. Anna Foreman, who works for Everypaw Pet Insurance and is based in the United Kingdom, spoke to Newsweek about dogs' memory.
She said: "Dogs are very intelligent animals—they will remember the times of day that they are fed at, which door to go to when they need the toilet, and their walking routes amongst many other things. This is because dogs have a very good associative memory.
"Associative memory is creating a relationship between two entities. Dogs have a great associative memory, relating objects and events readily. For example, a dog may associate a lead with going for a walk or their bowl with food. A good associative memory also means that most breeds are easy to train, associating words with an action, such as 'toilet' with going for a poo or wee or 'sit' with sitting down."
At the time of writing, the video has received over 170 comments since it was shared on February 3.
Another user said: "His little tail that stops moving when he can't see the children."
"He's thinking: 'Where are the tiny happy humans?'" said another.
Ramirez, who lives in The Hague, Netherlands, told another user that Alfie is "obsessed" with children.
