Announcing the news on Instagram in November 2019, Keough wrote: "I'm so honored to be your Daisy."

What Is 'Daisy Jones & The Six' About?

Daisy Jones & The Six is an adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel of the same name.

It centers on the professional and private lives of a rock band in the 1970s, tracking their rise to the top and subsequent fall.

The series will be documentary-style, featuring background interviews with the fictional band and original music, with lyrics from the book.

Jenkins Reid has said Daisy Jones & The Six was inspired by the tumultuous history of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.

In a guest post for the Hello Sunshine website, she wrote: "I kept coming back to that moment when Lindsey [Buckingham] watched Stevie [Nicks] sing 'Landslide.' How it looked so much like two people in love. And yet, we'll never truly know what lived between them.

"I wanted to write a story about that, about how the lines between real life and performance can get blurred, about how singing about old wounds might keep them fresh."

In a statement, co-executive producer Witherspoon said: "As soon as I started reading Daisy Jones & The Six, I immediately fell head over heels in love with it, and I'm thrilled to be bringing it to the screen with Amazon and Jen Salke, whose passionate pursuit of the material spoke volumes.

"With Neustadter and Weber, two writers I deeply admire, stewarding this project, I am so confident that Daisy and her band's journey toward finding their voice will leave just as permanent a mark with viewers around the world as it did with me."
