VIDEO: Customer Rails Against 'Arabs And Democrats' In Dallas Macy's On Christmas Eve
A man in a Dallas, Texas Macy's store was recorded lashing out in a xenophobic rant against "Arabs and Democrats" after a store manager and employee spoke to each other in Arabic.
His attempt to buy a women's handbag at a Dallas Macy's department store was derailed Christmas Eve after he ridiculed a manager for speaking Arabic to another clerk behind the Michael Kors counter. After several concerned customers stepped in to defend the woman with an accent, the Texas man began ranting against people he perceived as members of the Democratic Party and people of Middle Eastern heritage to "go back where you came from."
"Hey, I'm in America, all I asked was for her to speak English," the man repeated several times as the crowd's groans grew in volume.
The video was first posted by Twitter user "@rickyy_____," who described the scene Tuesday. "The man had been hostile, but no one paid attention until he started insulting the woman because of her ethnicity/language. I decided to record after he threatened to call the cops to have proof the employee did nothing wrong."
"All you Arabs. All you Arabs and Democrats, go back where you came from" the man laments, throwing his hands in the air next to a handbag booth. The now-viral video shows the crowd of nearly a dozen people defending the woman who described herself as a Macy's store manager in the video posted to Twitter Monday afternoon.
"I cannot see how many Arabs came out of the woodwork," the angry white man in a vest complains. "F*** you, put me on YouTube," the man tells the video recorder, who labeled him a "snowflake."
"I don't speak Arabic, they were speaking Arabic, I don't speak Arabic," the man cried out. Another person in the crowd can be heard saying he heard the manager perfectly clear when she spoke. The man who posted the initial video to Twitter, "@rickyy____" described the crowd around the man as "10-12 diverse lovely people."
Macy's official Twitter account reached out to the initial video poster seeking additional information Wednesday afternoon.
"There was 10-12 diverse lovely people backing the woman up and showing kindness to the employees 2. When I confronted the guy for making the women cry, he shouted homophobic slurs, said to get out of his face bc he paid $300 and left," he tweeted Monday evening of Christmas Day.
The video shows the man complaining several of the customers were getting in the way of his consumerist venture, repeatedly saying, "she's interfering with my purchase...I don't need to do s**t."
"She already told you 'there's not a gift box for that,' leave. Leave," a fellow customer is shown telling the man, who replies by saying he's going to call security. "Call them!" the woman exclaims. "Who is she? Who are you? You're a customer!" the man replies.
After several customers can be heard criticizing the man for disrespecting the manager and "being mean to" the workers, the man complains he's surrounded by "a bunch of Democrats." A man in the crowd can be heard affirming he is a Democrat and asking the man why that would matter in the ongoing altercation. One of the employees behind the register responded she doesn't care about "Democrats" or any other political or linguistic dispute, she simply asks for him to leave.
An incredulous man entered the argument captured in two videos that said he hoped the whole situation was a reality TV show or a staged prank event. The concerned customer asked the man how he would know the manager and her co-worker were talking to or about him if he doesn't even speak Arabic. "I have no idea," the man conceded.
