'Dancing with the Stars' 2020: When is the First Elimination?

Dancing with the Stars 2020 has now kicked off, with its new judge, new host and a new batch of celebrities. Those celebs, who include Backstreet Boy AJ McLean, Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause and Tiger King star Carole Baskin, have been matched with their professional partners and have performed their first dances. However, none of the celebs have gone home yet.

In fact, DWTS fans will have to wait a week before the first couple goes home. There was no fan vote in the premiere episode, with only the judges' vote taking place. In week two, fans will get to vote for the first time. These votes will be combined with the judges' scores for week one and two to determine who is the first to leave.

As such, the first Dancing with the Stars Season 29 elimination will be next Tuesday, September 22, when the episode will air at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT on ABC. Though there is no Monday episode next week, episodes from September 28 will air on Monday and Tuesday nights. The dances will take place on Mondays, when the lines are expected to open for voting, and eliminations will be on Tuesdays.

After the first round of dances, two pairs are in trouble. Carole Baskin has the lowest score of all after failing to impress with her paso doble to (of course) "Eye of the Tiger." Former NBA power forward Charles Oakley, meanwhile, only scored 12 for his first salsa.

The current leaderboard is as follows:

  • Nev Schulman & Jenna Johnson: 20
  • Kaitlyn Bristowe & Artem Chigvintsev: 20
