Day of the Dead or Día de los Muertos is a three-day festival that culminates today, November 2, 2019.
The Mexican festival celebrates and remembers family and loved ones who have passed away. It is believed that on October 31 the spirits of children who have passed away return to earth, with adults believed to return on November 1, and on November 2 families decorate their relatives' graves and celebrate the festival.
It is celebrated with decorated altars, sugar skulls, flowers, and candles. Those who celebrate Day of the Dead also dress up, paint their faces and will walk in parades.
