Daytime Emmy Awards 2020 Nominations—Who's Up For Awards When The Ceremony Airs This Summer?

Where would we be without daytime television? For starters, we'd be a lot more bored spending day-after-day at home under quarantine without the dramatics of the Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless keeping us entertained.

That alone is worthy of some praise. And praise the shows shall receive when the soap operas, talk shows and news programs are honored at the 47th annual Daytime Emmy Awards in June.

Nominations for the 2020 Daytime Emmys were announced on the CBS daytime talk-show, The Talk, by hosts Sheryl Underwood, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sharon Osbourn, Eve and Marie Osmond on Thursday. Categories announced included awards for Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Actors and Outstanding Daytime Talk Show among others across the broadcast, digital and syndicated landscape.

The 2020 awards ceremony will mark a particularly special event as the Daytime Emmys are scheduled to air live as a virtual event. The broadcast will mark the first time the Daytime Emmys have aired on television since 2011.

The virtual event will bring nominees and special guests together via web video. Presenters will announce winners, who will accept the awards from their homes.

Initially, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences planned to celebrate the awards with a three-night event in Pasadena. However, the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. and social distancing guidelines forced the organization to cancel the soirée. And while the ceremony has received the live stream treatment on select streaming platforms since 2015, the 2020 fete will allow more viewers to watch on CBS and the network's accompanying apps.

The 2020 Daytime Emmys will air on CBS on June 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
