A rescue dog enjoying the comfort of her foster home before returning to the shelter has melted hearts across the internet—but that wasn’t the end of her journey, and there was in fact a tear-jerking twist in store.
Pilates coach and animal lover Maia Henry took to social media to share adorable videos of her foster dog named Doby. The pit bull mix was found as a stray, believed to be around 3 years old, and is deaf. She utterly loves toys, car journeys and water, but nothing makes her happier than naptime.
Doby loved the home comforts she got to enjoy at Henry’s, especially cuddling up on the couch under blankets. Sadly, Henry couldn’t adopt Doby permanently and was searching for a long-term home where she would be loved and cared for. Henry shared a video on TikTok (@maiahenryfit) on February 13 showing Doby snoozing on the couch before she would ultimately have to return to the shelter.

The caption layered over the clip reads: “I can’t explain to her why she’d have to leave the couch, the blankets, the goodnight kisses and go back to the concrete and chaos in the shelter.” The social media video served as a plea for anyone to consider giving Doby the forever home she deserved.

The heartbreaking clip went viral with over 232,900 views and more than 24,800 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.
Thankfully, Doby was indeed chosen and has been adopted since she went viral. Henry told Newsweek that someone “drove 12 hours” to get Doby and opened their home to the sweet pup. Now, the deaf rescue dog is enjoying all her favorite comforts in her forever home, as Henry said she’s “in very good hands.”
According to the ASPCA, approximately 5.8 million cats and dogs entered U.S. shelters and rescues in 2025, representing a slight decline from the previous year. Of those, 4.2 million animals were adopted into homes, reflecting consistent adoption strength across the country. The ASPCA notes that continued capacity pressures leave many shelters crowded, making foster placements and adoption advocacy even more critical to improving animal outcomes nationwide.
Internet users utterly fell in love with Doby’s precious nature and joyful temperament. Many people shared Henry’s video and took to the comments to share how much they wanted Doby to find her second chance, with others praising Henry for taking her in. This led to more than 320 comments on the viral TikTok post so far.
One comment reads: “Nooo please someone adopt her. She’s too far deep in her Princess Treatment Era.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “Commenting to boost as well! You are extraordinary – thank you so much for bringing awareness to this beautiful bebe.”
Another person replied: “Thank you for fostering a sweet pittie baby.”
While one commenter said: “Ma’am she adopted you without you knowing.”
