Demi Lovato's Ex Max Ehrich Appears to Shoot His Shot With Olivia Rodrigo

Demi Lovato's former fiancé Max Ehrich seems to be keen on Olivia Rodrigo after she split from boyfriend Zack Bia.

Lovato and Ehrich, 31, enjoyed a short-lived relationship in 2020 when they got engaged just four months after they started dating, but then split two months after their betrothal.

The Grammy-winning Rodrigo reportedly split from Bia—a DJ and influencer—after a few months of casual dating.

The split was reported on by US magazine, which was told by an insider that "their relationship sort of fizzled… [they] haven't spent time together in a while."

An excited Ehrich responded to news of the breakup by commenting "my turn" on Instagram.

He wrote the comment under a post by Pop Crave, but then deleted it to replace it with a love heart eyes emoji.

Fans slammed Ehrich, who is 12 years older than the Driver's License singer, for his response to her breakup.

"Now he's a little too old for this," wrote one fan on Twitter.

Another added: "Isn't he 31y and Olivia 19y?"

A third wrote: "Demi dodged a bullet with that one for real."

Lovato, who is once again using "she/her" pronouns in addition to "they/them" after announcing in 2021 they identified as nonbinary, opened up on their whirlwind relationship with Ehrich.

They described their experience as "false advertising" after falling in love during the 2020 Covid quarantine.

"So my life has kind of flipped upside down. I'm no longer engaged. I'm really sad that things ended the way that they did," she said in a video in 2021.

"Good news is, I haven't picked up any hard drugs or anything like that. I'm hanging in there. Ugh. It's just sh***y."

Lovato later posted: "The video I made earlier wasn't an accurate representation of what I'm going through. I thought this whole time that I didn't miss him, I just miss the person that I started quarantining with. I don't know how to give my heart to someone after this."

Lovato has moved on with musician Jute$, 23, with the couple going public for the first time over the weekend as he wished her a happy birthday.

He shared a series of photos and video of the pair as Lovato celebrated her 30th birthday.

"[sic] Happy birthday baby. ur a 30 year old minx and i'm the luckiest schmuck in the world cuz i get to call u mine," he wrote in a post.

"Making u laugh has become my new obsession cuz ur smile literally cures my depression (there's a song lyric in there somewhere).

"I'm so proud of u for not only surviving everything you've been through but coming out on top and becoming ur healthiest happiest sweetest self. and that's all u baby… i'm just here to support u and tell stupid dad jokes when needed. ur more than ur music, more than ur voice, more than a beautiful face. ur everything."

Rodrigo is currently starring in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (HSMTMTS) 3, reprising her character, Nini Salazar-Roberts, in the role that catapulted to her global stardom.

But the singer has only returned in a recurring role, meaning Nini will not be around as much in Season 3. It will also be her last season on the teen musical.

At the beginning of the new series, Nini is still working on her songwriting career and will be heading to Los Angeles to work with some seriously big producers.

She is also heading on a road trip around Southern California with her two moms, instead of heading to Camp Shallow.

Confirming the news to Entertainment Tonight, HSMTMTS creator Tim Federle said Season 3 will give Rodrigo "a proper sendoff."

Federele said: "I think [Nini is] ready to explore the world outside the halls of East High. And Olivia herself was having such a monumental explosion in the music industry that it felt like the right thing to, frankly, work with Olivia to say, 'How do we get you out there into the world with us taking a little bit more of a backseat?' which we were all proud to do to support her.

"And so this season, it's about trying to give her character a proper sendoff while also leaving room for other characters to really step into the spotlight."

He added: "And personally, it's a joy to see Olivia's music explode in such a big way. It was so fun to have her back and reminisce on the beginning."

Rodrigo's exit comes after the 19-year-old shot to fame beyond Disney with her debut single "Driver's License" released in January 2021.

A few months later she released her debut album, Sour which earned her seven nominations at this year's Grammy Awards.

Rodrigo walked away with three wins including, for Best New Artist, Pop Vocal Album, and Pop Solo Performance.
