Democrat Ignores Nancy Pelosi's Trump Impeachment Dismissal, Says Constitution Is 'Worth It' and He'll Bring Vote to Remove President
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's belief that President Donald Trump was "just not worth" impeaching did not stop another Democratic Congress member from pursuing a vote to remove Trump from office.
In a news conference streamed from his office Tuesday morning, Representative Al Green, a Texas Democrat, said, "I did not reflect on her words, I reflected on what I heard from many people," when asked to comment on Pelosi's dismissal of impeaching Trump.
In a Washington Post interview published Monday, Pelosi said, "I'm not for impeachment.
"I've been thinking about this: Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there's something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don't think we should go down that path, because it divides the country," Pelosi said. "And he's just not worth it."
Green said that people he talked to at airports and in food lines asked him: "Is it worth it?" and he responded: "Is the country worth it? Is the Constitution of the United States worth it? Is it something that has meaning?"
"I think the country is worth it. I think the Constitution is worth it, and I don't place my word in a person who happens to be causing harm to society," Green said, referring to Trump.

Green, who had previously forced two impeachment votes that failed by large margins, promised, "There will be a vote on the floor of the Congress." He did not offer a date.
"There's a way to prevent the vote—change the rules," Green said, elaborating on the fact that Republicans did not change the rules, and it would be a shame "if Democrats change the rules so as to stop one person from doing what is constitutionally permitted."
