The New York Yankees have a problem. With injuries sidelining Gerrit Cole, Luis Gil, and Clarke Schmidt, the Bronx Bombers' pitching staff struggled. Now, they're facing the possibility of losing Max Fried to a nagging blister issue.
The Yankees need to make a move in the coming weeks. There are plenty of starting pitchers on the trade market who would fit with the Yankees, but a trade or two needs to come sooner rather than later.
FanSided's Jake Elman recently suggested the Yankees should make an "emergency" trade for Milwaukee Brewers southpaw Jose Quintana.

"The thought of Quintana in pinstripes isn't new, as it feels like he's been linked to the Yankees for years. Despite not joining the Brewers until early March, Quintana owns a 3.28 ERA and 48-31 K-BB ratio over 71 1/3 innings," Elman wrote. "Quintana should come cheap, partly because he is cheap; he's owed less than $2 million the rest of the season.
"Milwaukee can also afford (pun not intended) to part ways with Quintana, given rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski's sudden emergence. One concern: Quintana's diminished strikeout-to-walk ratio is troubling, and his 3.9 walks per nine is his highest since 2021. Could that potentially scare the Yankees away?"
The Yankees seemingly need an additional ace to add alongside Fried and Carlos Rodon, but acquiring Quintana wouldn't be a bad move.
The issue with this idea is that the Brewers are quite competitive right now, and they might not be inclined to move the lefty.
If the Brewers are willing to trade Quintana, it likely wouldn't cost the Yankees much to land him. This could be the perfect trade that leaves enough prospect capital available to trade for a star third baseman, too.
