Is Derek Peth Really 'The Bachelor'? The Role Is Already Claimed, Spoilers Say

After a crazy week in Paradise, Bachelor fans have their sights set on a possible new Bachelor, though it may be too late. Spoilers claimed a Bachelor for 2020 has already been chosen. That means Derek Peth, a new fan favorite, may be out of luck.

Twitter users are campaigning for Peth to be the next Bachelor because of his personality, but also because of Demi Burnett. The woman is part of the first same-sex relationship on Bachelor In Paradise, or any Bachelor show. Peth was sparking a relationship with Burnett when her non-exclusive girlfriend, Kristian Haggerty, walked onto the series. Burnett decided to commit to a relationship with . Haggerty, and Peth was bumped from his budding relationship with Burnett.

Peth first appeared on Jojo Fletcher's season of The Bachelorette in 2016. He was also on Bachelor In Paradise Season 4 and was engaged to Taylor Nolan at the end of the season. The pair went separate ways in early 2018, though, and Peth revealed long distance was part of the problem in an interview with The Morning Toast in 2018.

Viewers seem to want Peth to find love, but also appreciate how gracefully he handled his friendship and break up with Burnett. Though Burnett was honest with Peth about her relationship with Haggerty, he did not reveal her sexuality with any other contestant. Burnett was able to come out on her own terms. Peth has continued to support Burnett online as the series airs.

Some fans revealed they see Peth as an all-around nice guy, who has the best interest of others at heart. It's for this reason, fans would love to see him handing out roses come January.

Though fans would love to see Peth at the next Bachelor, spoilers say the lead role has already been cast. It isn't Peth, they claim. Spoiler blog Reality Steve revealed the next Bachelor on Twitter Monday. It's said to be Peter Weber, a pilot from Hannah Brown's recent season.

Commenters were upset about Weber's expected casting. It wasn't just about Peth's lack of opportunity, though some still pushed for Peth's chance. Most comments were angry about the decision not to cast Mike Johnson, who would be the first Black Bachelor. Many see it as a race problem, and ABC's decision to avoid casting a Black lead.

This is such an insult to all of the amazing black men they have that could actually A) carry this show and B) respect women

We knew @BacheloretteABC didn’t have the guts to choose @MikeJohnson1_ very disappointing, but what do u expect from the network that puts @seanspicer on @DWTS

It makes no sense for them to do this. Remember when Fleiss was just so twitter-pated with the chance to make Rachel the bachelorette? Mike is older, successful, charming, AND black. He seems like the obvious choice. I’m just befumbled.

The Bachelorette has only had one black lead, Rachel Lindsay, who appeared on the show in 2017.
