What time does 'Destiny 2' Forsaken Release?

Bungie detailed its Forsaken release plans in a This Week at Bungie blog post late last week. In that post we learned the following:

  • Destiny 2 will be taken offline to deploy hotfix version 2.0.1 at 10 a.m. EDT Sept. 4. If your Forsaken download has not already begun, it will likely do so alongside the hotfix.
  • By 10:30 a.m. EDT all players will be wiped from the servers while full maintenance begins.
  • At 1 p.m. EDT Sept. 4, Destiny 2 hotfix 2.0.1 will be fully deployed and Forsaken will be live for players to experience.

How Do I Download 'Destiny 2' Forsaken?

In order to enjoy all the content Destiny 2 Forsaken has to offer, there are lots of ways to purchase it across PS4, Xbox One and PC. These options are summarized below:

  • The Base Forsaken Expansion ($39) [PS4] [Xbox] [PC]: This basic set gets you in the door if you already own Destiny 2 and its prior expansions. You'll get the standard Forsaken content drops, but you'll be excluded from premium seasonal events.
  • Forsaken + Annual Pass ($69) [PS4] [Xbox] [PC]: This offers you access to Forsaken plus three seasonal events that begin this winter and carry through summer 2019. The Annual Pass by itself is $35.
  • Forsaken Legendary Collection ($59) [PS4] [Xbox] [PC]: This includes everything up to Forsaken without the Annual Pass. This is the bare minimum you need if you want to play Destiny 2 Forsaken without having the base game or prior DLC.
  • Forsaken Complete Collection ($99) [PS4] [Xbox] [PC]: It includes everything in the Legendary Collection plus the Annual Pass.

It should be noted that the base Destiny 2 game is available for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers until Oct. 2, but you'll still need to buy the prior DLC separately if you want to play Forsaken. Pick one of these options for your desired platform and be ready at the designated release time. The collections also have physical releases as well for those who don't want to deal with a download.

That's all there is to know about Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion. Guardians will be able to experience the new DLC at the standard reset time Sept. 4.

Destiny 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
