The Test of Strength Quest & Armor

'Destiny 2's Iron Banner kicks off June 18 with a new quest and cool rewards. The Armor looks like Year 1 Iron Banner Armor. 'Destiny 2' is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Bungie

One of the biggest Iron Banner changes for Season of Opulence is that individual armor pieces will now be obtained via a dedicated quest called Test of Strength. The quest will be offered by Lord Saladin, with different pieces getting unlocked along the way. The tasks are specifically tied to engaging with Iron Banner. Read a recap of the steps below.

  • As a team, earn points by defeating enemy Guardians in Iron Banner. Available only during Season of Opulence.
  • Return to Lord Saladin to collect your reward and continue the journey. Available only during Season of Opulence.
  • As a team, earn points by capturing zones and earning Power Plays. The more teammates capturing a zone, the greater the points earned. Available only during Season of Opulence.
  • Return to Lord Saladin to collect your reward and continue the journey. Available only during Season of Opulence.
  • As a team, earn points by defeating Guardians in Iron Banner with Supers. Available only during Season of Opulence.
  • Return to Lord Saladin to collect your reward and continue the journey. Available only during Season of Opulence.
  • As a team, earn points by defeating enemies in Iron Banner using Auto Rifles, Fusion Rifles, Scout Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Swords. Available only during Season of Opulence.
  • Return to Lord Saladin to collect your reward and continue the journey. Available only during Season of Opulence.
  • Earn points by completing Iron Banner matches. Wins Streaks are worth significantly more points. Available only during Season of Opulence.
  • Return to Lord Saladin to collect your reward and continue the journey. Available only during Season of Opulence.

In addition to segmenting Armor behind a quest, here are a few more important details you should know.

  • Armor pieces are granted as a powerful reward.
  • After initial collection, armor pieces can be reacquired with random rolls in Iron Banner Packages and match rewards.
  • The new armor works with all Year 1 ornaments. Appropriately, the armor is essentially Year 1 Iron Banner Armor.

Iron Banner Weapon Rewards

The Iron Banner for June 18 features Legendaries Shining Sphere and Gunnora's Axe. Bungie

Here's what we know about each of the weapons being offered during June's Iron Banner. Both of these are returning Iron Banner weapons.

Gunnora's Axe [Legendary Shotgun]

  • Precision Frame: a single-slug round. This weapon's recoil pattern is more predictably vertical.
  • Fluted Barrel: Increases range and decreases handling speed.
  • Rifled Barrel: Increases range and decreases handling speed.
  • Barrel Shroud: Increases stability and increases handling speed.
  • Accurized Rounds: Increases range.
  • Assault Mag: Greatly increases stability and increases rate of fire.
  • Opening Shot: Improved accuracy and range on the opening shot of an attack.
    • Outlaw: Increases reload speed.
    • Full-Auto Trigger System: Hold the trigger down to fire.
    • Rampage: Offers a stacking damage increase.
    • Swashbuckler: Damage increases from melee kills with this weapon.
    • Slideshot: Sliding partially reloads the magazine and temporarily boosts range and stability.

Simply put, Gunnora's Axe is one of the best slug shotguns if you're looking for something with lots of range. It does, however, falter in rate of fire and handling speed compared to some of its contemporaries. In the right hands, it can be a beast in PvP and PvE alike.

Shining Sphere [Legendary Rocket Launcher]

  • Adaptive Frame: A well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy.
  • Quick Launch: Greatly increases handling speed and increases projectile speed.
  • Linear Compensator: Slightly increases projectile speed, slightly increases blast radius and slightly increases stability.
  • Hard Launch: Greatly increases projectile speed, decreases stability and slightly decreases blast radius.
  • Alloy Casing: Greatly increases reload speed and decreases stability.
  • High-Velocity Rounds: Increases projectile speed and increases reload speed.
  • Quickdraw: This weapon can be drawn unbelievably fast.
    • Rangefiner: Aiming this weapon increases its effective range and zoom as well as projectile velocity.
    • Auto-loading Holster: Weapon is automatically reloaded after a short period of time.
    • Tracking Module: Adds tracking capability to rockets when aiming down sights.

Overall this is a decent Rocket Launcher but probably not worth the grind. If you can, work toward the Gunnora's Axe instead.

Other Rewards and Details

  • New Shaders

These are earned for completing objectives during Season of Opulence.

Iron Banner Packages are also being tweaked:

  • Iron Banner Armor may roll with enhanced perks.
  • New weapons have been added with a higher drop rate on the first package you open.
  • Iron Banner Bounties grant rewards and Iron Banner Tokens, but Bounties don't unlock the gear. That's obtained via the Test of Strength quest.
