Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter is officially live, and its opening quest requires you to get something called a Weak Synthesizer. In this no-nonsense guide, we'll tell you how to do it and explain what this new item does for your Guardian.
How to get the Weak Synthesizer in Destiny 2
After installing the Season of the Drifter update, the first thing you want to do is land in the Tower and talk to the Drifter himself. You'll find him in the Annex where other seasonal vendors typically hang out. He'll present you with a Quest Step called "Who Are You" that requires accepting a Gambit Prime Bounty. Pick as many Bounties as you like from his cache.

The quest will become "User Testing," which asks you to complete the requirements of your chosen Bounty. The requirements can vary depending on what you picked, so just follow the instructions. For finishing the task, you should get some Sentry, Collector, Invader or Reaper Synths. Go back to the Drifter and he'll give you the Weak Synthesizer.

What does the Weak Synthesizer do?
You put your Synths in the Weak Synthesizer to make Weak Mote consumables. These consumables give you access to Reckoning PvE, which offers top-tier armor for use in Gambit Prime. The Motes are essentially your ticket into the mode. Complete Reckoning to score a new piece of armor.

That's essentially all you need to know to get started with Season of the Drifter. Just go through the motions of playing Gambit Prime and synthesizing Motes until the next tier of Reckoning becomes available.
Destiny 2 is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Season of the Drifter content is available to Annual Pass owners.
