'Detroit: Become Human' DLC Teased By Director

A recent tweet from David Cage, founder, writer and director at developer Quantic Dream, has fans buzzing for the possibility of DLC for the studio's most recent release Detroit: Become Human.

We wish you all a wonderful New Year with a lot of love, friends, laughs, and of course a lot of fun!

2018 has been an amazing year for Quantic Dream, thanks to you.
We have plans to make 2019 very exciting too!#DetroitBecomeHuman #ConnorArmy pic.twitter.com/I9e11CTPQY

The tweet starts out as a generic "Happy New Year" message to Cage's followers. However, Cage closes the tweet by mentioning Quantic Dream has "plans to make 2019 very exciting" like last year. The tweet ends with two hashtags, one for Detroit: Become Human and another for ConnorArmy, the hashtag fans of Detroit: Become Human have used to help share artwork and photos of their favorite android.

While nothing is explicitly confirmed in the tweet, Cage did mention there are plans for Quantic Dream to have an exciting 2019. Judging by Cage's context that 2018 was also exciting, it seems like he is equating excitement to game releases. If this is the case, Cage has loosely confirmed that his studio will release something this year.

So what could it be? The logical option is Detroit: Become Human DLC. Game development takes a long time, so it's highly unlikely Quantic Dream has had the time to develop a new game after the launch of Detroit. It also doesn't seem likely the studio was working on a second game alongside Detroit . This leaves us with a way to expand on Detroit.

Quantic Dream has also been known to create DLC for their games in the past. Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls featured small DLC expansions after both games were released. It would make sense for Quantic Dream to continue with this practice for Detroit: Become Human.

Unfortunately, we have no idea when this possible DLC might be released or even when it might be officially revealed. Unlike major game announcements, DLC typically isn't announced at big press conferences. Considering Detroit: Become Human was released in late May of 2018, it would make sense for any DLC to be released sooner rather than later. DLC for any game typically is shipped within a few months of a game's initial release. Whatever Cage is alluding to, we'll just have to wait and find out.
