Fox News Guest Calls Whistleblowers 'Suicide Bombers' and Thinks Impeachment Inquiry is 'Regicide'

Outrage over the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump took a different turn Tuesday night, with one of his defenders describing the Democrats' investigation as "regicide" and likening the whistleblowers to suicide bombers.

Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and commentator Joseph diGenova appeared on Fox News' The Ingraham Angle to discuss recent development in the inquiry, with diGenova suggesting the Democrats were killing a monarch.

"What you're seeing is regicide. This is regicide by another name, fake impeachment," he said.

"The Democrats in the House want to destroy the president. They don't want to preserve the Republic. There's nothing honorable about what is happening. This is a despicable abuse of constitutional power," he added.

The impeachment inquiry came following a whistleblower claiming Trump had asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate potential a political rival, Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden, and his son Hunter.

But the president has dismissed the inquiry as a "witch hunt," and on Tuesday the White House stating that they will not be cooperating with the inquiry.

The letter, from White House counsel Pat Cipollone to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, said: "Given that your inquiry lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the Executive Branch cannot be expected to participate in it."

Discussing the whistleblower allegations that prompted the announcement of an impeachment inquiry, diGenova said: "We get first one anonymous informant, then a second anonymous informant, I refuse to call them whistleblowers. These two nonentities are suicide bombers that the Democrats have unleashed on the democratic process. They actually think the American people are going to accept having people testify secretly without anyone knowing who they are, where they worked, what their party affiliation was, who they conspired with."

Host Laura Ingraham quickly pointed out that diGenova did not mean the whistleblowers were literal suicide bombers, interjecting: "You mean political suicide bombers, obviously, before we start getting people saying 'Oh, he really meant suicide bombers!'" prompting diGenova to agree.

Giuliani also got in on the action, suggesting that the Democrats were able to act without proper checks and balances because of the press.

"They can say anything they want, they can also be as corrupt as they want, they don't get investigated. Nobody cares, nobody worries," he added.
